Jewish-Arab demonstration in Haifa marking 59 years of struggle against the Occupation.

On Saturday, a Jewish-Arab demonstration was held in Haifa, initiated by the Peace Partnership organization including dozens of movements and parties, marking 59 years since the Six-Day War. The demonstrators marched along Jaffa Street in the Lower City, protesting against the occupation and its crimes, against six decades of military rule in the occupied territories, and calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The demonstration concluded with short political speeches in the city square at the Allenby/Peres junction, moderated in a joint Arab-Jewish format by Gaia Ben-Zvi from the Bloc Against the Occupation in Haifa and Sulafa Mahoul from the Peace Partnership. The rally featured speeches by: Yosef Jabareen, head of the Hadash electoral list for the Knesset; Jamal Zahalka, head of the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel; Fadwa Khader from the Palestinian People’s Party, a left-wing political leader from occupied East Jerusalem; war refuser Einat Geretsman; and journalist Israel Frey.

The Peace Partnership emphasized: “The annual demonstration is a cry and a clear statement against the occupation and its crimes, especially the crimes of the past year. The occupation must be uprooted along with all its brutal crimes — mass killings, displacement and expulsion, torture and wrongful arrests — crimes that the Netanyahu–Ben Gvir government have brought to unprecedented levels.”
